Project information

The City has installed seven CCTV cameras at the following locations:

  • Napper Road pedestrian signals, Arundel
  • Napper Road and Captain Cook Drive, Parkwood
  • High Street and Stevens Street, Southport.
  • Marine Parade and McLean Street, Coolangatta
  • Marine Parade and Miles Street, Coolangatta
  • Musgrave Street and Pacific Parade, Coolangatta
  • Miles Street and Coolangatta Road, Coolangatta.

Construction details:

  • new steel support pole or mounting on existing traffic signal
  • new conduits and pits
  • CCTV camera, switchboard, communications cabling and attachment brackets
  • communication and electrical connection to existing networks.

The project will improve our ability to monitor traffic volumes in the lead up to, and during, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The CCTV cameras will also improve traffic operational capabilities and assist with traffic incident management. The cameras do not measure speed.


The purpose of the CCTV camera network is to monitor traffic and road safety. Our policies protect your privacy and govern the use of the cameras.
