City of Gold Coast is a community that values its culture. Valuing and elevating our Indigenous culture is a key action within the City of Gold Coast's Culture Strategy 2023.
We support programs and initiatives that deliver on this action.
We have also established a permanent full-time Indigenous Arts Development Officer position to drive this work.
The First Nations Artist Camp (formerly the Gold Coast Indigenous Artist Camp) is a significant development and creative opportunity for First Nations artists.
This professional development course has been held on South Stradbroke Island and the Gold Coast Hinterland since 2014.
2024 First Nations Artist Camp – applications now open until 3 October.
The camp will be held on shared Quandamooka and Kombumerri Country, South Stradbroke Island country at Tipplers Campground.
To apply, visit the First Nations Artist Camp page.
Take a look at the Artist Camp books produced after each course. The books are key resources that elevate the visibility of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
You can view the books online, or download them to keep:
