Saint-Denis, Paris
In September 2024, Mayor Tom Tate signed an Agreement of Friendship and Cooperation between the Gold Coast and Saint-Denis, Paris. As co-host cities to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, this agreement represents a shared commitment to building a prosperous, sustainable and culturally enriched future for both cities.
Danang
In June 2020, Mayor Tom Tate signed a Memorandum of Understanding to Establish Friendship and Cooperation between the Gold Coast and Danang.
The relationship ensued following a Mayoral Trade Mission to Vietnam in 2019 that discovered both cities share similarities in innovation and technology, education and tourism. Danang is the City's first relationship in Vietnam.
Makassar
In March 2019, Mayor Tom Tate signed a Letter of Intent to Establish a Sister City Relationship between the Gold Coast and Makassar. An important trading port, Makassar is the capital of the Indonesian province of South Sulawesi and is a multicultural city of people and religions.
Wuhan
In October 2015, Mayor Tom Tate signed a Letter of Intent for Friendly Relationship between the Gold Coast and Wuhan. Wuhan is known for its natural wonders and ancient Chinese history and is also recognised as the political, financial, cultural and educational centre of central China.
Jining
In October 2014, Mayor Tom Tate signed an Agreement of Friendship & Cooperation between the Gold Coast and Jining. Jining is a prefecture-level city situated in the southern part of the Shandong Province and an important birthplace of Chinese culture, including Confucius and Mencius. In 2014, Jining City donated a statue of Confucius to Gold Coast Chinatown.
