Takasu

Takasu is a small town located in the centre of Hokkaido, the most northern island of Japan. The name means 'hawk's nest' and the town is used as a testing ground for Honda to see how products withstand extreme winter conditions. Takasu has an abundance of fertile land, which has led to a strong agricultural sector specialising in rice and tomatoes.

However, due to low humidity summers in Takasu are mild and comfortable.

Takasu is known for its abundant nature, rice fields, laid back farming lifestyle and friendly locals. Although not a major tourist town, Takasu is worth a visit if you are staying close by in Asahikawa, the second largest city in Hokkaido, famous for the Asahiyama Zoo and Asahikawa Ramen Village. The region is also well known for snow skiing and snowboarding and a popular destination for those wanting less tourists and amazing powder runs.
