Location: Corner of Gold Coast Highway and Victoria Avenue, Broadbeach
Project: Broadbeach Entry Sign
Aim: Enhance the sense of arrival at the precinct
Design: City Place Making
Build/installation: Sign Vision Australia/Creative Lighting/City of Gold Coast
Award: 2019 AILA QLD Regional Achievement Award Gold Coast
The illuminated Broadbeach entry sign (originally proposed in the Broadbeach Core Business Centre Masterplan) is centrally located in Victoria Park. Being double sided, it is visible along the Light Rail Corridor, when vehicles enter the precinct from the Gold Coast Highway and T E Peters Drive, and from the park.
The bold design enhances the sense of arrival at Broadbeach, complimenting the event, dining and characteristics of the precinct. It activates the corner of the park and provides photo opportunities for locals and visitors. The sign can be illuminated with a range of colours, so different themes and colour combinations can be used.
The previously dark corner of the park is now brightly lit and is a meeting point for locals and visitors. People often take photos and uploaded them to social media platforms which promote the precinct and the city (#broadbeach).
The installation of the sign has given the precinct renewed sense of pride for the local community and focal point.
