City place making is urban renewal of the city's commercial centres and public places. These upgrades enhance our lifestyle and can provide opportunities for small business entrepreneurs, promoting prosperity for the city. There are currently 3 city place making programs: Precinct master planning; Place making projects and Tactical urbanism projects.
The commercial areas (including industrial areas) of the many activity centres across the city will be the subject of holistic precinct place making planning.
These are large capital upgrade projects that have been identified in a precinct master plan and will generally include substantial changes to the public realm that focus on pedestrian amenity.
Tactical urbanism focuses on low-cost, small scale, incremental improvements to neighbourhoods and city gathering places.
