Free Wi-Fi

Residents and visitors to the Gold Coast can connect to the Surf Network to use free high-speed Wi-Fi.

The network is currently available in Southport, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Chevron Island, Coolangatta, Miami, Burleigh Heads and all Libraries within the city. It will also soon be deployed to Mudgeeraba and Nerang.

To connect, select the Surf Network Wi-Fi connection on your device, within any coverage area. You don't need to reconnect if you move between coverage areas.

Users can access four gigabytes (upload and download) of data per day. This high data allowance suits most user needs.

Powered by the City's fibre optic network, the Surf Network delivers speeds close to 30Mbs, depending on the user's distance from a Wi-Fi device. This is fast enough to watch two high definition Netflix movies simultaneously on a laptop.

The Surf Network is Australia's largest (geographical) and fastest publicly owned Wi-Fi network. It serves more than 8000 users per day. This is just one way we're working towards our vision to be Australia's leading digital city.

Privacy

The Surf Network does not require personal logins and doesn't have a minimum session or timeout. We take privacy seriously and do not collect or store any personal information from the Surf Network service.

Note: We've designed the network to provide coverage in public spaces. It may not be available within buildings. As this is a free public service, the City does not offer support services for personal devices. If you are unable to connect to the network, please check your device security settings or ask your device provider.
