CBD Sundown event lights up Southport after dark
Published on 21 September 2021
Southport’s night-time economy will receive a shake-up when new event series CBD Sundown kicks off this Friday night.
Roving roller girls, nostalgic disco tunes, vintage arcade games, iconic Drag Queen Natasha St James and more will take over an empty lot in Southport, drawing a new crowd to the precinct.
Mayor Tom Tate said the live music and art fiesta would entice Gold Coasters to visit and support businesses in the area.
“Come down and rediscover Southport CBD after dark,” said Mayor Tate.
“This new event series will see activations in the CBD’s live music venues and forgotten spaces where patrons can check out creative pop-ups while sampling local food and bars.
“Wander down the laneway and immerse yourself in the art installations or try your hand at a free paint and sip session under the stars.
“Once 9pm rolls round, event goers can check out the nearby CBD bars and venues,” he said.
CBD Sundown is an ongoing program that will see increased activations in the CBD the last Friday of each month until June 2022.
