SEQ lockdown update

From 4pm Saturday 31 July 2021 to 4pm Sunday 8 August 2021, people in South-East Queensland, including the Gold Coast, are required to stay at home except for essential reasons. For full details on the lockdown, please visit

Now closed:

  • City libraries
  • Customer service centres
  • Aquatic centres
  • Sporting venues (including Coomera Indoor and Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre)
  • Community centres
  • Olympic Live Site at Kurrawa Park, Broadbeach
  • Bouncy Pillow and Rockpools at Broadwater Parklands
  • Public playgrounds
  • Skate parks
  • BMX tracks
  • Outside gyms (including static exercise equipment in Council parks)
  • Public barbeques


  • Active & Healthy classes
  • NaturallyGC program
  • City events

Other services:

  • City Waste and Recycling Centres remain open for essential visits. Waste collection services will proceed as usual. Please continue to put your bins out the night before collection day.
  • We will continue to patrol our beaches. We urge Gold Coasters to stay home and follow the Queensland Government advice regarding restrictions.


The Gold Coast is included in the Queensland Health face mask directive for the people in South-East Queensland.

If you are:

  • in a locked down area, or
  • have been in a South East Queensland locked down area at any time since 1am AEST 29 June, unless 14 days have passed since you were there; or
  • reside in the same household as a person who has been in a locked down area at any time from 1am AEST 31 July 2021

You must carry a face mask with you at all times. You must wear a face mask at all times when you are outside your home, unless:

  • you are alone in your car or with the members of your household
  • you are eating or drinking
  • you are participating in strenuous exercise
  • it is unsafe.

Masks must be worn in any indoor workplace even where social distancing is possible.

Queensland Health has issued contact tracing alerts for multiple sites across Queensland, including the Gold Coast. Current exposure venues are listed on the Queensland Health website.
