The Gold Coast’s iconic SeaFire International Fireworks competition will be lighting up the shores of Surfers Paradise this weekend.

The City’s FREE family event will be held on Surfers Paradise beach this Saturday 3 June from 6pm to 9pm.

“SeaFire has become one of our city’s most highly anticipated events for both locals and visitors with thousands of people expected to set up on the beachfront and enjoy the show,” said Acting Mayor Donna Gates.

“Since the inaugural SeaFire in 2012 we have seen over half a million spectators enjoy the event and this year it’s going to be bigger and better than ever.

“I encourage everyone to make the most of the night by grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many local restaurants or even stay a little longer and book a Staycation with the family.”

Two world-renowned pyrotechnic teams from Sweden and Germany, will compete for the coveted title this year, lighting up the night sky with a dazzling display of light and colour at 7pm and 8pm.

The display will be accompanied by a vibrant musical soundtrack which will be simulcast on 102.9 Hot Tomato for nearby residents to listen to while they watch on at home.

Australia’s leading pyrotechnic team Skylighter will close the night with a breath-taking fireworks finale at 8:50pm.

The Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets will be running on the foreshore from 4pm and DJ, Pia Pressure will keep the crowds entertained from 6pm.

The Esplanade will be closed from 2pm between Hanlan Street and Soul roundabout.

People are strongly encouraged to avoid driving and instead catch the G:link to Cavill Avenue, extra G:link services will be running in the evening to help you get home. An increased frequency will run from 5pm until 10pm.

Alternatively, make your journey active and walk, ride, scoot or skate to the event.

SeaFire is presented by City of Gold Coast and supported by 102.9 Hot Tomato.
