An army of smurfs will paint the town blue when Smurfers Paradise kicks off these school holidays.

17 life-sized Smurf statues will line the streets of Surfers Paradise as part of a free themed scavenger hunt for kids.

Division 10 Councillor Darren Taylor said the event was a great opportunity for families to rediscover Surfers Paradise during the school holidays.

“Our Surfers Paradise businesses have done it tough over the last 18 months so bring the kids for a fun family day out.

“Begin your Smurf search at the Smurf Village, collect your scavenger hunt and follow the very-blue clues to win a Smurf-y prize bag.

“Once you’ve found 10 Smurfs, stay for a meal and check out a local business while you’re in the area.

“It’s more important than ever to support our local operators and we hope this event will help activate the precinct,” said Councillor Taylor.

Roving Smurf characters will roam the precinct from 12pm to 3pm daily.
