The John Franklin Memorial Fellowship Trust was established in memory of Councillor John Franklin who passed away in April 1993. The Trust commemorates John's love of life and his untiring involvement in the local community.

I applied in Year 12. As School Captain, I'm involved in a lot of activities at my school, Marymount College, including a peer tutoring program to support younger students that I created and ran. Outside of school, I was involved in netball coaching at the Mudgeeraba Netball Club and I'm involved in volunteer firefighting at the Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade. These activities have reinforced my passion to give back to the communities that have shaped me into the person I am today, which ultimately inspired me to apply for the Fellowship.
The money helped fund the UCAT exam to get into medicine and dentistry which is very expensive. The Fellowship has also given me a sense of encouragement and validation, reinforcing my motivation to continue working towards my goals.
I plan to study medicine at university and pursue a career as a doctor. I also intend to continue my involvement in volunteer firefighting to stay connected to my community and contribute in times of need.

I applied in Year 11. My brother encouraged me to apply – he's a past recipient and a big role model in my life. I'm so grateful I had family and community support.
As part of Duke of Edinburgh Award, I went on 2 amazing trips with my cohort. I've also developed a new skill, participated in a new sport and I'm assisting my community further. I'm continuing with my private drama lessons, developing my skills and entering eisteddfods and other external programs.
I am planning to attend the University of Queensland to study a degree in philosophy, economics and politics.
