The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted up to 80mm of rain across the Gold Coast this morning, with the chance of a thunderstorm.

Heavy localised rain is possible and strong winds are predicted.

Conditions are expected to clear this afternoon and remain fine into the weekend.

All Gold Coast beaches are closed today.

People should STAY INFORMED as conditions could change rapidly.

For storm help call the State Emergency Service on 132 500 or download the SES Assistance QLD app.

The threat has reduced and the City's sandbag stations are now closed.

Signage will be in place on site to direct motorists to the sandbagging stations.
