Learn about the critical role our emergency services play on the Gold Coast at the City’s first Emergency Services Safari.

The free events at Coomera on Saturday 16 June and Coolangatta on Saturday 29 June, will give residents the chance to meet the hard-working heroes dedicated to keeping the community safe.

Displays will showcase Queensland Police Service, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Ambulance Service, State Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service and community recovery support agencies.

“City of Gold Coast works closely with emergency services and other agencies in the event of a disaster to ensure we are providing adequate relief and support to impacted communities,” said Mayor Tom Tate.

“The Emergency Services Safari will help us share the incredible work these everyday heroes do to support the Gold Coast’s Local Disaster Management Group by providing countless crews and resources towards rescues and recovery efforts.

“Bring the family along to learn more about our emergency services teams, their vehicles and the important role they play on the Gold Coast.”

Vehicles will be on display and activities will include mock rescues to demonstrate what emergency services crews are responsible for in the event of a disaster or severe weather.

Engage with experts on emergency response and recovery strategies and hear important tips for personal preparedness and planning.

“Not only will the Emergency Services Safari give you a glimpse of the work these personnel do, but it will also show you how to ‘Get Ready’ for a natural disaster with a good plan to protect you and your family,” Mayor Tate added.

The events will include interactive activities for the kids and giveaways.

City of Gold Coast’s Emergency Services Safari events are produced with assistance through the jointly funded Commonwealth State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

The events are supported by 102.9 Hot Tomato.
