Conditions at Jacobs Well are being monitored after the community was isolated by floodwaters on Sunday.
We have seen heavy rains ease on Monday morning and the Bureau of Meteorology has forecast conditions to ease for the rest of the week. Early modelling indicates floodwaters are likely to start receding.
We continue to ask people not to drive or walk through floodwaters.
The City also thanks the entire community for their preparations ahead of Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
The community is also commended for taking action when warnings were issued and for a majority of the community for heeding safety messages.
As at 4pm on Monday there were more than 58,000 properties on the Gold Coast remain without power.
There are still numerous trees and powerlines down. There are currently 97 traffic lights at intersections which are out.
We have more than 300 field staff and numerous contractors with boots on the ground.
The City wants to reassure Gold Coasters we are working with Queensland Police, Queensland Fire and SES.
The City will continue to work with these agencies as a combined response to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred and the subsequent severe weather.
Additional crews will be sent to the Gold Coast over the coming days.
