Music Action Plan 2021

The Music Action Plan 2021 (MAP 2021) provided a blueprint that positively impacted the live music sector on the Gold Coast. It helped to provide the industry with access to resources, promoted Gold Coast music nationally and internationally, and forged stronger partnerships across all tiers of government, peak bodies, and private enterprise.

MAP 2021 identified 4 strategic outcomes:

  • everyone can experience great music
  • Gold Coast artists and music businesses thrive
  • positive national and international perceptions
  • coordinated City commitment and delivery.

The key actions were achieved through programs that:

  • developed the skills of artists and the music industry (EXCEED)
  • developed a planning framework to support live music (UNLOCK)
  • built our reputation as a music city (JOLT)
  • harnessed the City's capacity to provide leadership and investment (LEAD).

We recognise the immense musical talent that exists on the Gold Coast. We will continue to support not only the musicians that contribute to shaping our cultural identity, but the venue and professional service providers who work behind the scenes.

The development of MAP 2021 would not have been possible without the valued contribution from the local scene and industry partners from across the country. We look forward to continuing to work together to realise the full potential of the Gold Coast's live music sector into the future.
