Coombabah Catchment
Coombabah Creek, Coombabah Lake, Saltwater Creek and their respective catchments are the focus of the activities undertaken by the Coombabah Catchment Management Group.
Their flagship area is the Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area, which includes the Coombabah Lake – a recognised Fish Habitat Area and part of the Moreton Bay Marine Park (one of Australia's larger Ramsar sites).
Members of the Group are actively involved in numerous committees throughout the Gold Coast dealing with issues affecting their area of interest.
The construction of a boardwalk and associated bird hide is the highlight of their work in recent years. In conjunction with the bird hide, educational signage and associated information kits help to raise awareness of the importance of this area to native wildlife and flora.
The Group meets regularly and welcomes residents to come along and participate in their various activities that help to protect and restore these creeks and catchments.
