Deliver an event on public land

Complete this form if you wish to apply to deliver an event on Council-controlled land.

Important information

To allow adequate time to review and assess your event application, submit your application for an event permit with a minimum of:

  • 30 business days (6 weeks) before your event for a small event
  • 60 business days (12 weeks) if you are planning a large-scale event.

Approval in principle is required before selling tickets or advertising the event.

Applicable fees

Fees apply for hosting events in City of Gold Coast parks and are priced on application (POA). Pricing is based on a daily hire rate, with additional rates for bump in/out days. A concession may apply if your event is free and open to the public, rather than ticketed or commercial in nature.

Events are assessed based on a range of factors, including:

  • Level of infrastructure and physical impact on the park and access (e.g. staging, fencing, marquees, food trucks, vehicle access)
  • Anticipated number of participants/spectators
  • Classification of the park (e.g. high-profile foreshore locations)
  • Use of park amenities (e.g. carparks, toilets, showers)
  • Displacement of regular public use
  • Level of commercial use

Bond

A refundable bond may also apply to your event. Bonds vary based on:

  • Scale and size of event infrastructure
  • Duration of the event
  • Number of participants/attendees
  • Location profile and level of park embellishment
  • Seasonal factors and ground conditions
  • Types of vehicles required on-site

Standard bonds range from $1000 to $5000, while events with greater impact will incur a larger bond.

If your event is held at Broadwater Parklands, other park hire fee structures will apply. For Broadwater Parklands fees go to Register of fees and charges.
