Health industry development
The health and medical sector is the Gold Coast's largest employing sector. We have more than 38,000 skilled health workers taking care of our community.
Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct
Together with the State Government, Gold Coast Health and Griffith University, we have invested more than $5 billion into the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct. The mission is to accelerate the creation of jobs in the health and medical sector. We aim to attract a talented workforce.
The precinct enables collaboration between allied health facilities and research institutions. It incubates a knowledge-based health industry. Major advancements are already being made in biotechnology and medical technologies such as 3D printing and prototyping. There is also ongoing progress in preventative and integrated health.
International health trade and export
International health trade and export is dynamic way to grow Gold Coast businesses. It also increases our city's collective industry competitiveness. Our International trade and export program supports local businesses such as:
- health and medical service providers
- manufacturers of health and wellness products.
We coordinate inbound and outbound trade missions to connect local businesses with suppliers, buyers and distributors. This supports the growth of businesses and the development of our city's health manufacturing industry. Due to COVID-19 our future mission plans are still under review.
