Marine industry

Learn how we are developing one of the most advanced marine industry clusters in the Southern Hemisphere.

Gold Coast Marine Precinct

The Gold Coast Marine Precinct is a dedicated industrial zone in Coomera. This is for marine manufacturing, servicing, repairs and refits of recreational boats. It is one of the most advanced and respected marine industry cluster developments in the Southern Hemisphere.

Dredging program

A $3 million dredging program recently saw 14 kilometres of the Broadwater and Coomera River deepened. This allows large vessels up-river to undergo refits and maintenance work at the Gold Coast Marine Precinct.

Customs clearance port

The Southport Yacht Club is being trialled as a Border Force clearance port.

Having a customs port in our city encourages foreign super yachts and other vessels to sail directly into the Gold Coast Seaway. They can be cleared in our city rather than in Brisbane. This provides our local industry with more opportunities for servicing, repairs and refits. It will also boost our local tourism economy. We fully support the clearance port remaining permanently.

Superyacht infrastructure

We completed a project to build Australia’s largest floating megayacht berth at 160m in length, in collaboration with the Queensland Government and Southport Yacht Club.

A $65,000 Superyacht Simulation Report was also completed, allowing vessels up to 130 metres to enter the Broadwater and access the new megayacht berth at the Southport Yacht Club.

Gold Coast Superyacht Guide

We've developed the following guide to provide captains of superyachts with the essential information you’ll need to plan your visit to the Gold Coast.

International trade and export

As part of our International trade and export program, we coordinate inbound and outbound trade missions. These support the growth of local marine related businesses. This has included the coordination of trade missions to some of the worlds largest marine trade shows including the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (USA) and METSTRADE (Amsterdam). Exhibiting at these trade shows provides Gold Coast businesses access to new global trade and export opportunities.
