The following types of building records are available:
This report details all building approvals for residential or commercial structures. It includes amendments, additions, alterations, swimming pools and encumbrances on the property.
The report includes the following information for each approved building application:
- name of the builder
- name of the plumber
- name of the private certifier
- description of the works and the BCA class
- the application number
- the date the approval
- types and dates of inspections and the name of the entity who carried out the inspection.
It does not include siting variation applications or copies of approved plans or documentation.
The fee covers the first 4 building applications on a property only. Any extra building applications are charged per building application. We will send a quote to the applicant.
Processing time
Residential (Building Code of Australia Class 1a and 10) – allow approximately 15 business days.
Commercial (Building Code of Australia Class 1b to 9) – allow approximately 25 business days.
If you need only one unit in the building, then the residential fee applies. We email search results when completed.
This search includes a site inspection by a Council officer. We provide a written report about compliance of all structures on the property under the building approval. The report does not include details of building applications or previous inspections of structures on the property.
This is not a building and pest inspection or a final inspection of the structures on the property. No compliance documentation will be issued.
The fee covers the first 4 building applications on a property only. Any extra building applications are charged per building application. We will send a quote to the applicant.

This search provides a copy of the original Certificate of Occupancy (Classification) issued for buildings constructed after 1975. It specifies the Building Code of Australia (BCA) classification of the building and describes the way it can be used.
If more than one Certificate of Classification has been issued, a quotation for additional fees will be sent to the applicant. Refer to the Building classification codes(PDF, 30KB) for more information.

This search provides a copy of the original Form 21 for the Final Inspection of building work (may not be available for buildings constructed before 1975) issued for single detached dwellings and other BCA Class 1 or 10 building work (alterations or additions to existing dwellings, sheds, patios).
A Form 17 is issued as a Final Inspection certificate for swimming pools and spas. Pool Safety Certificates are available from the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) at qbcc@qld.gov.au.
If you need final inspection documents for a multi-unit building, or non-residential building (factory, shop), please refer to the Certificate of Classification option above.
