Appealing a development application decision
Our decision to approve or refuse a development application can be appealed by the applicant or submitters. Individual members of the public, developers or commercial interests can lodge an appeal.
Appeals are generally dealt with in the Planning and Environment Court. Some appeals may be dealt with by a tribunal.
The court deals with complex and technical matters that need detailed interpretations of the Planning Act 2016.
Hearings can take many weeks.
