Planning for natural hazards

As the Gold Coast grows, we become increasingly vulnerable to natural hazards.

Our City Plan shapes how areas are used for housing, businesses and transportation. It also prioritises enhancing resilience to floods, bushfires, landslides and coastal hazards.

Our planning and policies align with Australian and State government priorities to help residents recognise risks, plan for and build resilience to natural hazards. We also assist the community and businesses prepare for natural disasters, provide guidance during emergencies and support recovery efforts.

We’re working on additional planning and mapping tools to help you plan for coastal hazards. These tools will be published here when available.
