Resilience ratings for homes
We've partnered with the Resilient Building Council to help residents make their homes stronger and safer against natural hazards like floods, bushfires, severe storms and cyclones.
The Household Resilience Ratings Program offers free assessments to homeowners, giving personalised, practical guidance about how to reduce disaster risk and prepare for extreme weather.
The program has 2 phases. In both phases, you'll receive a Resilience Ratings Report showing how your home is likely to perform in different hazard events and which upgrades will make the biggest difference.
Phase 1: Free on-site expert assessments in 2025
- Free on-site assessments were completed in November and December 2025 for 40 homes.
- Participants will receive their resilience ratings report in early 2026.
- We will also invite participants to a workshop where assessors will explain the reports and answer questions.
Phase 2: Free self-assessments in 2026
- Free self-assessments will be available for 1000 homes.
- Expressions of interest open in March 2026. Homes must meet certain criteria to take part.
- We’ll share details soon about workshops to help guide you through the process.
