Find & release impounded vehicles or goods

Vehicles and goods, such as shopping trollies and advertising signage, may be impounded if left unattended for some time, or deemed to be hazardous.

If vehicles or goods are not collected within one month from impounding, they can go to public auction or be disposed of.

Apply to release an impounded vehicle or goods

To apply for release you must be the owner or have a letter of authority from the owner.

Step 1.Call us

Call us on 07 5667 5991 to discuss your impounded vehicles or goods.

Step 2.Gather your information

To apply for vehicle release, you will need to provide your:

  • street address and key contact details
  • your driver's license number.

For vehicles – you will need to provide:

  • AV/CRM number and impound date
  • vehicle make, model, plate number details.

For goods – you will need to provide:

  • AV/CRM number and impound date
  • List the type of good, for example: vehicle, sign, shopping trolley.

If you own the vehicle, you will need provide proof of ownership and one photo identification:

  • driver's licence
  • bill of sale
  • vehicle registration papers.

If you don't own the vehicle, you will need to provide:

  • a letter of authority from the vehicle owner
  • the vehicle owner's driver's licence
  • bill of sale
  • vehicle registration papers.

Check the current Register of Fees and Charges as you will need to pay release and storage fees.

Step 3.Complete the application form

If you own the vehicle or goods – download, print and complete the Release vehicle/goods form(PDF, 163KB)

If you don't own the vehicle or goods – ensure to have your letter of authority printed to go with the completed release form.

Step 4.Visit one of our customer service centres

Submit your application at one of our customer service centres (Monday to Friday between 8.15am and 4.30pm).

Please ensure you bring your supporting documentation with you.

Should your application be approved, you will need to pay the release and storage fees at the customer service centre.

Once approved, contact the Pimpama Abandoned Vehicle Holding Facility on 07 5581 7134 to arrange a time to collect your vehicle or goods.
