Grass footpath & nature strip mowing

You are responsible for mowing the footpaths and nature strips adjacent to your property.

Normally we do not mow grass footpaths and nature strips of private residential, commercial or industrial properties.

The only 2 instances where we do mow is:

  1. For hardship – both medical and financial
  2. Council have reviewed the area and determined it would be impossible to mow.

How to apply

Applications must be made in writing.

Step 1.Gather your documents

You will need to submit the relevant supporting documentation with your application:

  • Permanent disability: Disability Support Pension status
  • Medical condition: a medical certificate stating you are unable to mow your grass footpath or nature strip due to medical reasons
  • Financial constraints: a statutory declaration stating that you do not have the financial capacity to employ a mowing contractor or demonstrate your pensioner status – with your pensioner card or copy of a bank statement

Step 2.Prepare you letter

  • Explain why you are applying.
  • Print your letter and attach copies of your supporting documents. If you do not have copes, take your original documents with you to the customer service centre.

Step 3.Visit one of our customer service centres

To get in-person assistance, submit your application at one of our customer service centres (Monday to Friday between 8.15am and 4.30pm).

Please ensure you bring your supporting documents with you.

Reviews of our mowing service

Our mowing services are periodically reviewed and you will need to provide an updated application.

You will need to submit:

  • a new medical certificate

If your original medical certificate confirmed a permanent disability, you do not need to provide a new one.

For your financial reason:

  • a Statutory Declaration stating that you do not have the financial capacity to employ a mowing contractor or
  • demonstrate your pensioner status – with your pensioner card or copy of a bank statement

At review time, you are allowed 2 months to resubmit applications before any termination of our mowing services.
