We are upgrading the intersection of Cotlew and Freda streets at Trinity Lutheran College, Ashmore, to improve safety and encourage active travel.
April – May construction update
Easter and ANZAC weekend
Cotlew Street and Freda Street median, intersection and roadways will reopen during the upcoming Easter and ANZAC weekend breaks.
Between 22 April and 24 April
- Some intermittent closures in the Cotlew Street median between 9am and 2pm, with traffic management in place during the short-term closures (up to about 3 hours at a time).
Between 28 April and 23 May
- Footpath works will continue at Freda Street at the south-east corner of the intersection
- Access from Cotlew Street to Freda Street in both directions will remain open
- Freda Street will remain open with some intermittent disruption where required to facilitate works at south-east corner
- Some works in the southwest corner of the Cotlew-Freda intersection, under traffic management
Works timings subject to weather and construction conditions.
No works will occur on the public holidays.
Construction details
- Install traffic signals including signalised pedestrian crossings
- Widen footpaths to improve safety and encourage active transport
- Construct a new left-hand turn from Cotlew Street in Freda Street
- Realign the left-hand slip lane into Golden Palms Court, to slow traffic and shorten the pedestrian crossing distance
- Install a new 2-metre wide path across the Cotlew Street and Golden Palms Court intersection
- Install new Disability Discrimination Act 1992 compliant pedestrian kerb ramps
Impact during construction
Traffic management will be in place to help road users around the work sites. Please follow signs and slow down when approaching the works area.
There may be temporary traffic delays as well as some noise and dust. We will do our best to minimise construction impacts and inconvenience.
