Washington Waters Park

We are upgrading the recreation facilities at Broadwater Parklands, Southport.

Project information

Washington Waters Park is located within Broadwater Parklands. The area is well known for the bouncy pillow and other children's play equipment.

Since 2007, the State Government and City of Gold Coast have undertaken considerable master planning and construction works in the Broadwater, including the implementation of Stage 1, 2 and 3 of the Southport Broadwater Parklands Master Plan. Washington Waters has been identified for renewal as part of the Stage 4 Broadwater Parklands Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) funding program.

The area is popular despite the age of some of the facilities. The vision for the project is to improve the overall 'look and feel' of this part of the Parklands.

The park provides numerous recreational opportunities for both residents and visitors to the area including playgrounds, beach and swimming enclosure, picnic and barbecue facilities, shaded open space, a children's bike track and the aqua park.

Community consultation

From May to August 2022, we consulted the community about the park upgrade. We held 4 in-park pop-up sessions, published social media posts and erected on-site signage.

You can read the results of the feedback in the following summary report.
