Elanora Sewage Treatment Plant upgrade
- Project typeSewer
- Project value$85 million
- Project scheduleAugust 2024 to late 2028
We are upgrading the Elanora Sewage Treatment Plant.
The works will increase the plant's capacity to cater for population growth, improve efficiency and lower operating costs.
Project details
- Construct new buildings to house mechanical and electrical equipment
- Increase and upgrade aeration capacity in existing process tanks
- Install sewage bypass pipeline
- Construct new solids dewatering train
What to expect during construction
Work hours are 7am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with limited weekend and night works as needed.
There will be some additional construction traffic on Nineteenth Avenue, Angelica Street and K P McGrath Drive while the M1 works are in progress.
General construction noise may be experienced close to the site. We will minimise the impacts on the local community as much as practical. To ensure compliance, regular noise monitoring will be performed on site and in the local surrounding areas.
Benefits for the community
- Improved reliability and efficiency in sewage treatment
- Reduced service interruptions and potential overflows
- Consistent and safe sewage management
- Capacity to service the growing population of the southern Gold Coast
