How trenchless excavation works
Pipe jacking is a trenchless method used to install underground pipelines with minimal surface disruption. This specialised construction technique helps protect roads and infrastructure while reducing disruption for local residents, businesses and road users.
The pipeline crossing under the Gold Coast Highway was installed via pipe jacking to avoid open trenching across the highway corridor. This method was chosen due to the Gold Coast Light Rail 3 construction currently underway.
