We are upgrading the Merrimac Sewage Treatment Plant. The works will increase the plant's capacity, improve efficiency and lower operating costs. The work is the first step in a major upgrade of the plant by 2030 to cater for population growth.

Project details

  • Install new precast piled foundations
  • New buildings to house mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Construct new process tanks
  • Construct new solids dewatering train
  • Construct new solids handling and truck load-out

Public impacts

Work hours will be from 6:30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, with limited weekend and night works as needed.

General construction noise may be experienced close to the site. There will be some additional construction traffic on Boowaggan Road.

We will minimise the impacts on the local community as much as practical. Regular noise monitoring will also be performed on site and in the local surrounding areas to help with management and to ensure compliance with our approvals.
