The Mudgeeraba Aquatic Centre will be upgraded from mid-2026 to mid-2027. The design has been finalised and construction planning is underway.
Built in 1968, the Mudgeeraba Aquatic Centre is the oldest of our 8 aquatic centres. A strategic review in 2017 identified that the current 6 lane 25-metre outdoor pool does not meet current facility and access standards.
A masterplan for the redevelopment of the centre was endorsed in 2023. The approved design includes a new 8 lane 25-metre outdoor pool that meets Australian standards, along with improvements to some other facilities.
The popular playground will be relocated to a new open space near the front entrance, allowing for continued use and enjoyment throughout the project and beyond.
As the centre has already received some upgrade work, we will be retaining as much of the existing building as possible. The revitalised Mudgeeraba Aquatic Centre will inject fresh life into the precinct while retaining a sense of place and community through architectural and urban design.
This project is majority funded by the Queensland Government's South-East Queensland Community Stimulus Program.
