Nerang Administration Precinct redevelopment

The former Nerang Administration precinct is a strategically located site near the Nerang CBD and Pacific Motorway.

The precinct includes the Nerang Bicentennial Community Centre, which serves as a primary evacuation centre during disaster events.

Following the relocation of City staff to the Bundall Precinct, we are exploring opportunities to revitalise the Nerang site, including the delivery of the proposed Gateway Community Hub (The Hub).

Community consultation

More than 90 community members attended a community information session in November 2023, and were supportive of investigating a community hub at the former Nerang Administration Precinct. As active users of existing community facilities, they expressed a preference for arts, music, entertainment and gallery-based facilities.

We also completed a Community Facility Review Project that indicated strong support for the concept of 'community hubs'. Read about our community services and facilities review.

Further consultation was undertaken between November and December 2025 to seek feedback on the proposed Hinterland Gateway Community Hub and future directions for the site. Community feedback on priorities, facility needs and opportunities continues to inform planning and delivery as the project progresses.

Where we are now

In July 2025 Council endorsed the sale of the former Nerang Administration precinct and delivery of The Hub in partnership with the private sector. An Expressions of Interest (EOI) process is seeking suitable development partners for the precinct.

The Hub is proposed to be a modern, high quality, multi-purpose facility that brings together recreation, arts and community service in one vibrant, connected location.

This project will enhance and revitalise the Nerang area by delivering a welcoming and accessible hub that supports community connection and wellbeing.

The project reflects our commitment to investing in high-quality community infrastructure and ensuring Nerang continues to thrive as a dynamic and inclusive community.
