On 21 July 2021, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) selected Brisbane as the Host City of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Olympic Games Brisbane 2032 are scheduled to be held from 23 July to 8 August 2032 and the Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032 from 24 August to 5 September 2032.
A Games for all of Queensland
Largely hosted across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast, the Games will put south-east Queensland on the world stage and will generate an estimated $8.1 billion in benefits to Queensland. This includes a $4.6 billion economic boost to tourism and trade and $3.5 billion in social improvements to health, volunteering and community benefits.

Gold Coast competition venues
Gold Coast venues hosting Olympic Games events include 4 existing venues and 2 temporary venues.
Existing Gold Coast venues
- Gold Coast Sport and Leisure Centre will host the Olympic judo and wrestling, and the boccia for the Paralympics. It will have a spectator capacity of 7,500 during the Games with temporary seating overlay.
- Gold Coast Stadium will host the football (soccer) preliminaries. It will have a spectator capacity of 27,400 during the Games.
- Coomera Indoor Sports Centre will host the Olympic volleyball and the Paralympic wheelchair rugby. It will have a spectator capacity of 11,000 during the Games with temporary seating overlay.
- Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre will host the Olympic volleyball preliminaries and weightlifting. It will have a spectator capacity of up to 6,000 during the Games.
Temporary venues
- Broadbeach Park Stadium will host the Olympic beach volleyball and Paralympic 5-a-side football. This temporary stadium will have capacity for 12,000 spectators.
- Southport Broadwater Parklands will host the Olympic triathlon, aquatics (swimming marathon) and Paralympic triathlon. This temporary venue will have a spectator capacity of 5,000.
Non-competition venues
- Olympic and Paralympic Village (satellite village with main village located in Brisbane) will be established at Robina, adjacent to Robina Town Centre, and it will be home to 2,600 athletes and officials.
- Festival / live site where spectators can watch all the action.
The 2032 Games will be a catalyst to stimulate and enhance ongoing urban development of the Robina Town Centre for this fast-growing region.
Business opportunities
Engaging local industry and generating jobs is one of the key objectives from the Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032. A drive for new investment in infrastructure, tourism, trade and community programs that will grow Queensland’s economy and is forecast to create approximately 91,600 FTE jobs.
A Forward Procurement Plan with initiatives to support businesses getting involved in opportunities from the Games is being established. Local businesses are encouraged to register for Buy Queensland Supplier Updates via the Brisbane 2032 web page where they will be notified when more information is available.
To make the most of future supply opportunities, businesses are also encouraged to become ‘tender ready’ by making use of the various programs, resources and other information available on the Business Queensland website.
Legacy
The Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032 brings with it significant cultural, social and economic benefits for our city. Being a key Games Delivery Partner for an event of this magnitude will offer substantial legacy opportunities for the city over the next 20 years, 10 years leading up to the Games and 10 years after.
Ensuring we leverage the Games and maximise the benefits for the Gold Coast, the Gold Coast 2032 Legacy Framework was recently adopted by Council.

Brisbane 2032 Legacy Strategy
Nearly 14,000 ideas were shared as part of planning for the legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032. It included feedback from the Hopes and Dreams survey, stakeholder engagement, and the Brisbane 2032 Legacy Forum held in March 2023.
On the back of this consultation, Elevate 2042: The Brisbane 2032 Legacy Consultation Paper was developed and returned for community consultation. Following consultation, the Strategy has now been published.

Next steps
An Implementation Plan will drive delivery of early legacy activities up to 2029. In 2024, the Plan will be co-developed with the Games Delivery Partners, will identify priority programs, projects, targets, partnerships, policy levers and funding sources that are available to advance them.
