Beree Badalla Reserve boardwalk renewal project

We have upgraded the Beree-Badalla Reserve Boardwalk and installed new public amenities with assistance provided through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

The Beree-Badalla Reserve boardwalk had deteriorated due to large storm surge events, the marine environment and general increased use by the community.

Scope of project works

  • Vegetation pruning with compensatory replanting
  • Removed the existing boardwalk
  • Installed new 3 metre-wide boardwalk
  • Installed of new amenities:
    • shower facility
    • canoe/kayak launch ramp
    • 3 seating nodes
    • 2 fishing platforms.

Community benefits

  • Preserved the boardwalk
  • Increased boardwalk resilience against severe weather events
  • Reduced maintenance with 100-year design life
  • Improved safety and accessibility for boardwalk users
  • Improved access to City’s Active Transport Network and new recreational amenities

The boardwalk renewal works are part of our ongoing investment to improve our active travel network and supports our Active Transport Plan 2017-2027.
