Sewage treatment plant

We are upgrading the Pimpama Sewage Treatment Plant to increase the plant's capacity, improve efficiency and lower operating costs.

We will design and build a sewage treatment plant by 2028 that doubles existing capacity, to cater for the area's anticipated population growth.

Construction details

  • Install new sewage infrastructure including replacing and upgrading the treatment process
  • Construct new buildings to house mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Construct new plant roads, improve drainage and enhance site landscaping

What to expect during construction

  • Works will occur Monday to Saturday, 6:30am to 6pm
  • Some construction noise, dust and vibration near the works areas and controlled within environmental limits
  • Increased construction traffic, including heavy and oversize vehicles
  • Changed traffic conditions, including a speed limit reduction from 80km per hour to 60km per hour along a small section of Kerkin Road North, Pimpama
  • Roadworks including temporary lane closures, traffic management and speed reduction signs
  • Access and exit changes for the Pimpama Sewage Treatment Plant on Kerkin Road North
  • Some shrub and vegetation removal – no established trees will be removed
