The Pizzey Park Skate Park is being upgraded to an Olympic standard precinct that will provide over 3000 square metres of skateable surface.

Pizzey Park is one of the biggest and most-visited parks on the Gold Coast. It is home to:

  • 25 sporting clubs
  • a regional aquatic centre
  • the city's largest rugby league club
  • Queensland's largest tennis facility
  • one of Australia's premier skate parks.

The 60-hectare park is used by tens of thousands each week.

Pizzey Park Skate Park is the premier skate park in the city and is world-renowned.

Project information

The upgrade project will transform Pizzey Skate Park into Australia's premier skate destination.

It has been designed in accordance with Olympic standards and will enable the facility to hold major competitions and Olympic training for professional athletes into the future.

The skate park will be comprised of over 3000 square metres of skateable surface.

The upgrade will include:

  • a 3000-square-metre-plus extension
  • pedestrian pathway upgrades, including integration with the Miami Aquatic Centre
  • skate park lighting
  • an upgraded carpark to cater for increase in capacity
  • pedestrian and carpark lighting
  • a bus drop off area
  • seating
  • allowance for events, including grandstands.

Timeframe

Construction started in March 2021. We expect the project to complete in January 2022.
