Sewer main replacement & recycled water main installation

  • Project typeWater
  • Project scheduleJanuary 2022 to February 2022
  • Contractor nameNTS Group Pty Ltd

We are upgrading and expanding the recycled water network to provide Class A recycled water for additional customers. Upgrading and expanding the recycled water network helps maintain and enhance green spaces and avoids using drinking water for irrigation. To enable efficient delivery of critical infrastructure, an existing sewer main within the same footprint will also be upgraded.

Project details

The construction and expansion of the recycled water main is essential infrastructure for our growing city.

This work forms Stage 1 of the Recycled Water Network Expansion project for the City of Gold Coast.

The replacement of the rising sewer main is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to upgrading and improving our critical infrastructure.

Construction details

These works will involve:

  • installing a recycled water main by trenching from the roundabout at Oxenford Southport Road, across the canal, along the eastern side of Santa Barbara Road, and under the Caseys Road roundabout
  • replacing the existing rising sewer main from the roundabout at Oxenford Southport Road, drilling under the canal and along the eastern side of Santa Barbara Road
  • restoration of road and roadside once works are completed.

The contract for this project was awarded to a local contracting firm NTS Group Pty Ltd.

Public impact

Standard hours of work will be 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 4pm Saturday. After-hours work on weekends and at night will generally not be necessary but may be required on occasions.

The construction of the new recycled water main and rising sewer main may impact the public. These impacts may include:

  • increased vehicle and plant movements at the site
  • construction noise, which at times may be significant
  • partial/intermittent road/lane closures
  • traffic management on affected roads
  • disruption to car parking on the western side of Santa Barbara Road
  • possible dust and odour emissions.

We will endeavour to minimise these impacts and thank you in advance for your patience.
