We have an ongoing program to replace ageing water mains across the city to ensure residents and businesses continue to have a reliable water supply.

Project details

• Install a temporary above-ground water pipe to maintain water supply
• Disconnect and remove the existing water mains
• Install and test the new water mains and fittings
• Connect all property services to the newly installed pipe
• Remove the temporary water supply pipe

Community impacts

• Temporary water supply: short-term water shutdowns will be required at times so we can connect and remove the above ground temporary water pipe. Residents and business will be notified in advance via a water interruption notice. The temporary pipe will supply the same quality drinking water as the existing mains. You many notice a small reduction in water pressure which is usual
• Temporary changed traffic conditions and on-street parking arrangements
• Temporary footpath closures and diversions
• Vegetation trimming and removal
• Increased levels of noise and dust

Hours of work are from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. In some locations, night works may be required. Residents and businesses will be notified in advance.

We will do our best to minimise disruption and thank you for your cooperation and understanding during these essential works. Areas directly impacted by the works will be restored to as close to their original condition as possible at the completion of construction.
