We are supporting our dedicated environmental volunteers, like Wildcare Australia, by providing a wildlife rescue vehicle to help injured, orphaned and sick native wildlife.

Equipping Wildcare Australia with a wildlife rescue vehicle enhances their ability to respond promptly to native wildlife emergencies, reducing suffering and improving survival rates for vulnerable animals. It's not just a vehicle – it's a lifeline for these animals.

Benefits

With over 3000 species of native animals on the Gold Coast, supporting environmental volunteers like Wildcare Australia helps foster a compassionate approach to coexisting with wildlife, promoting environmental awareness and community involvement in conservation efforts.

The wildlife rescue vehicle serves as a hub for education and outreach, inspiring the next generation of wildlife carers.

Caring for our natural city

We are a city in nature. Safeguarding wildlife on the Gold Coast helps conserve biodiversity, enhances environmental values, preserving the Gold Coast’s natural beauty and way of life for future generations.

Providing the wildlife rescue vehicle is a signature action under our Our Natural City Strategy 2032 and the Council Plan Naturally Unique theme. It’s another wildlife conservation tool in our toolkit, complementing other conservation efforts aimed at preserving and enriching our natural environment within the city.

Over the next decade, we will continue to focus on delivering projects that restore our environment, protect our precious wildlife and their habitat and provide more experiences for people to enjoy nature, including:

  • working towards our target of 51% native vegetation cover
  • purchasing land to secure strategic habitat and connect critical nature corridors
  • designing city growth to protect our natural environment
  • understanding and responding to climate impacts for land and water environments.
