Your rates and water bills show the date when payment is due.
We offer a discount for rates payments made on or before the due date shown on your rate notice. The discount amount on your rate notice represents a 10% discount on your General Rate.
There is no discount applicable on any other rate or charge appearing on your rates or water bill.
Pay online, by direct debit or in person
If you don't want to incur the credit card surcharge, you can pay:
- by cash in person at the Commonwealth Bank (cash is not accepted at our Customer Service Centres)
- from your bank account using direct debit or BPAY®
- by cheque or money order via:
- post
- in person at our Customer Service Centres or any branch of the Commonwealth Bank.
Late payments
If you do not pay on or before the due date, you will not be eligible for the General Rate discount.
If you do not pay on or before the due date and you do not organise a payment plan with us, you will be charged interest on the outstanding amount. The current interest rate is 8% per year, charged daily. We may also begin recovery action against you, which could eventually lead to a public auction of your property.
Pay in advance
You can make advance payments for your rates and water bills at any time, even before you receive a bill.
To make advance payments, use any of our payment methods. Any payments you make will show as a total figure on your next bill and will reduce the total amount of the bill.
