We work hard to keep our parks, beaches, public toilets, footpaths and other assets clean and in good condition.

If you see anything that needs fixing or cleaning, please let us know about it.

Facilities & equipment maintenance

If you notice a problem where public safety is at risk and urgent repair or maintenance is needed, please call us on 07 5667 5974.

Our City Maintenance Officers look after the facilities and equipment in public parks and playing fields. We look after:

  • benches and seats
  • barbecues
  • beach showers
  • bollards and fencing
  • dog bag dispenser refills
  • exercise equipment
  • general park maintenance
  • lights
  • park furniture
  • playground equipment
  • shade sails
  • shade sail structures
  • sports playing fields
  • tables
  • taps
  • toilets.

Cleaning required

Our cleaning team works all day, every day to keep our city looking as clean as possible. The public toilets and barbecues in our busiest parks and foreshores are cleaned every day.

Lighting for parks, playing fields & beaches

Overgrown grass & weeds

We mow the grass in our parks and median strips on a rotating roster. Sometimes weather conditions will encourage the grass to grow faster than normal.

If you are concerned that overgrown grass or weeds on public land could cause a health and safety problem (such as snakes or vermin), please either:

Report OVERGROWN GRASS OR WEEDS

We do not mow grassed footpaths and nature strips in front of private residential, commercial or industrial properties. You are responsible for mowing the footpaths and nature strips outside your property. If you are unable to mow your footpath or nature strip due to financial or medical reasons, you can apply for us to mow it for you. Trees that need maintenance

We look after tree planting and maintenance on nature strips, reserves, parks and public gardens.

If you notice a tree on public land that is dead, diseased, fallen or in need of maintenance, please report it to us.


Dangerous or dilapidated fencing

If you notice any dangerous or dilapidated fencing on or adjoining public land, please report it to us so that we can organise repairs. Please either:

Report DANGEROUS OR DILAPIDATED FENCING

We are responsible for fencing on and adjoining public land, not for fencing on private land. If you are concerned about dangerous or dilapidated fencing on private land, please contact the property owner.

Fitness groups in parks

Fitness groups that exercise in parks are controlled by regulations.

Commercial fitness providers must have a permit to operate in parks. For more information about permits please see Commercial fitness training in Gold Coast parks.

Illegal camping

Camping on the Gold Coast is controlled by law. It is illegal to:

  • camp overnight in a public place
  • sleep overnight in a vehicle parked in a public place
  • set up tents, caravans or swags on private property for the purposes of sleeping overnight. This includes vacant land, private lawns or commercial premises. However, you can set up a tent at an occupied dwelling for the purpose of allowing a child to camp in a tent overnight.

It is illegal to ride motorbikes or drive other vehicles in all Gold Coast parks and reserves.
