Accessible parking
Disability accessible parking spaces are available throughout the City of Gold Coast.
If you park in a signed disability accessible parking space, you must:
- hold a valid disability parking permit
- display your disability parking permit clearly inside the vehicle, on the lower left (passenger) side of the windscreen or the left (passenger) dash
- have your permit number and expiry date clearly visible from outside the vehicle
- make sure the permit holder is using the vehicle, either as a passenger or driver, and will be entering or exiting the vehicle.
If you park in a disability accessible parking space without a valid permit, you will be fined.
Our city carparks provide disability accessible parking spaces. For more information, see our Council carparks map.
Disability parking permits
Disability parking permits are issued by the Queensland Government. To apply for a disability parking permit, visit the Queensland Government website or call 13 23 80.
We accept disability permits issued by the Queensland Government, by other state governments in Australia, and by overseas governments.
Metered parking fees and time limits
Holders of a valid disability parking permit can park for free in metered parking areas. Holders of disability parking permits are exempt from all parking meter fees.
Holders of disability parking permits must comply with these time limits in metered parking spaces:
- where the signed time limit is less than 30 minutes, you can park for up to 30 minutes
- where the signed time limit is 30 minutes or more, you can park for an unlimited amount of time.
