Mermaid Beach parking

Mermaid Beach falls within both the Central Traffic Area and the Mermaid Beach to Burleigh Heads Traffic Area.

Parking restrictions

  • Maximum 3-hour parking (3P) from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, unless signed otherwise
  • No time limits apply on weekends and public holidays unless signed otherwise
  • Time limits apply through the Traffic Area, including streets without parking signs
  • If your vehicle remains within the Traffic Area after the time limit expires, you may be fined
  • You cannot move your vehicle to a different spot within this time-limited parking Traffic Area and continue to park there

Parking options

There is short-term parking within the commercial hub, medium-term spaces for beachgoers and other visitors, and all-day off-street parking for commuters.

On-street parking is generally managed between 7am and 6pm daily. Always check signs on arrival. Where there are no kerbside signs in place, Traffic Area conditions still apply.

Mermaid Beach is a major hub for public transport. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport, walking or cycling where possible. Plan your journey on public transport using Translink's journey planner.

Parking permits

Eligible residents can apply for a free resident parking permit. Visitor parking permits are available for a fee. Permits are issued for a calendar year.
