Public transport for seniors and veterans
The Free Senior and Veterans Off Peak Bus Travel initiative will be discontinued from Tuesday 1 July 2025.
Seniors and veterans currently registered for free bus travel can continue to use the service until 11:59pm, Monday 30 June. We are not accepting new registrations for this initiative.
50 cent fares
The Queensland Government will continue to offer 50 cent fares across the Translink network for all public transport users, including seniors and veterans. You can travel on buses, trains (excluding the Airtrain), ferries and trams for 50 cents per trip, regardless of distance.

City discounts and benefits for seniors and veterans
Eligible seniors and veterans can also access a wide range of discounts and benefits.
- Rates discounts and concessions
- Access to our Council cab service, a door-to-door transport option that can take you, and a carer or dependent, to your local shopping centre and back for only $2 per person per trip.
- Free and low cost active and healthy programs for seniors
- Concessions on swimming pool entrance fees
- Many other social, wellbeing and active aging partnerships and programs at City libraries, community gardens and community centres.
