Humpbacks and Hi-Rises

We are a community group dedicated to the protection and research of marine mammals on the Gold Coast. We run the largest marine mammal monitoring program in south-east Queensland. Our work is based on dedicated volunteers, industry partners and a huge amount of passion for the ocean. We work with a wide range of community organisations, businesses and researchers to advance the protection of whales and dolphins in our region.

We offer various opportunities including:

• volunteer opportunities to undertake boat and land base marine mammal surveys between May and November each year
• research tours and expeditions
• educational workshops and events that promote marine conservation and environmental awareness, including free training seminars and the Gold Coast Whale and Ocean Festival
• opportunities to undertake internships.

We play an active role in maintaining whale and dolphin protection and advancing the community’s connection with the ocean.
