Homelessness can affect anyone of any age and can be temporary or long term. A safe and secure home is a fundamental need. We recognise the critical issue of affordable housing in our city and support coordinated efforts to make homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring.
What we are doing
Public space officers
Public space officers play a key role in ensuring our public spaces are safe for all residents and visitors. Our officers actively engage with those sleeping rough and work with local outreach services. They refer people to housing and support services.
We help balance the needs of individuals with preserving public spaces and safety.
Gold Coast Homelessness Action Plan 2024
The Gold Coast Homelessness Action Plan 2024 outlines the City’s responsibilities and strategic responses to homelessness. We work with the Queensland Government and local services to reduce homelessness in the city.

Gold Coast Zero Campaign
We have joined the Gold Coast Homelessness Network to progress the Gold Coast Zero Campaign. The Campaign is a community-based effort to build public support for ending homelessness. It also calls for renewed Federal and State investment in housing, support services and healthcare.
The campaign aims to link people to support services and help them get into permanent housing options. It gathers important data including the 'By Name List' to track outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.

Connect2Home | Homeless Connect
We support the Connect2Home | Homeless Connect event every year. To find out how to donate items or volunteer, follow the Gold Coast Homeless Connect Facebook page.
