Sports field closures

We keep our sport and recreational facilities open as much as possible to maximise use. But sometimes we need to close sports fields because of wet weather or for maintenance.

See details of current sports field closures in the table below. Find details of sports field closures due to renovations in our renovation schedule.

We update the information on this page (only if there are changes) at 8.30am and 2pm on business days. It is not updated after business hours, on public holidays or over the weekend. Advice due to wet weather is only a recommendation. It is not possible for Council officers to inspect all sports fields within all parks and weather conditions may change during this time. In these cases, it is the responsibility of the respective club onsite to determine playing and/or training conditions. Schools, clubs and groups who use the fields against the Council's advice are reminded that if they cause damage to the playing surface, they may be liable for fines and/or cost for repairs.

If you have queries about the use of the Council's sports fields, please call 07 5667 5972 during business hours or email rou@goldcoast.qld.gov.au.

Wet weather

We aim to create opportunities for juniors to stay active and play sport during extended periods of wet weather where possible. Junior and secondary playing fields will, whenever possible, remain open for junior (18 or under) age use in periods of wet weather and will only be fully closed (to both juniors and seniors) in exceptional weather circumstances. Please refer to Council's Sports Field Closure Policy for further information.
