There are a wide variety of activities and events on offer for seniors on the Gold Coast. Find out more below.

Active & Healthy seniors

The City's Active & Healthy program includes activities specifically for people aged 50 years and over, such as our Active ageing activities. For more information phone 07 5581 7256.

Swimming pools

We operate 8 aquatic centres.

Each centre offers a range of activities, including learn to swim classes for adults and an indoor warm water program at Southport. Concessions are available for eligible seniors. To find out more visit our Aquatic centres page.

Cycling Without Age

Cycling Without Age is a not-for-profit charity. It connecting those no longer able to ride for themselves with their community and the outdoors by giving them free rides on trishaw ebikes, piloted by volunteer cyclists. Cycling Without Age rides are free and provided by fully trained local community members, for the local community.

Community centres offer a range of social, cultural, recreational and educational activities. Find out what's on at your local community centre.

Libraries

Gold Coast libraries offer a range of activities, programs and events for seniors. To find activities near you, use the search function on the Libraries events calendar to select an 'age group' and 'location' of your choice.

Our libraries also have a range of assistive and adaptive equipment and a special needs collection, which can assist with the development and rehabilitation of people with medical conditions, injury or disability. For more information phone the Nerang Library on 07 5581 7180.

Community gardens

Community gardens are a great way for residents without their own garden, or those who want to be part of a community gardening project to get out and use their green thumb. Visit the Community gardens page to find your nearest garden.

Seniors Garden

The Seniors Garden is the Gold Coast's first purpose built, safe and accessible outdoor space where seniors, people with disability, and community groups can get together and connect with each other. The garden has many unique features, including wheelchair-accessible garden beds, wide pathways, accessible group seating, a friendly bench, and a range of interactive, sensory elements.

NaturallyGC Landcare Volunteer Program

By volunteering in a bush or land care group you can help protect, maintain and enhance our natural areas and make a difference to the environment. It's also a great way to meet like-minded people and learn new skills that can be applied in your own backyard. Internet & computer lessons

Be Connected is an Australia wide initiative empowering all Australians to thrive in a digital world. They have online learning resources as well as a network of community partners – the Be Connected Network – who offer in-person support so you can develop your digital skills and confidence. Find a local place for friendly help and advice, or join the Network to help others.

Seniors on the net

Seniors on the net is a community organisation for seniors (over 50) who are interested in improving their knowledge and skills in using computers and the Internet (there is a small fee charged for lessons).
