Our Local Studies Library
Our Local Studies Library is a valuable resource for teachers and students. Our library's collection of images is one of the most popular parts of our collection. The collection dates from the late 1800s through to the present-day. A particularly valuable resource for teachers and students.
We recommend you explore these resources:
- our library catalogue – a great starting place to explore what's available in our Local Studies Library
- Trove – search amazing collections including historic regional newspapers held in Australian libraries, archives and museums.
Our stories
Our Gold Coast Stories website is managed by our Local Studies Library. It brings together stories and hidden histories about the people and places of our city.
The website offers a wide range of stories on varied subjects for people of all ages to explore and enjoy. These are collated from items in our Local Studies Library and historic newspapers.

Mudgeeraba Heritage Walk
The benefit of this program is two-fold:
- students learn their city history
- they get active & healthier by walking.
The Mudgeeraba Heritage Walk is a discovery and celebration of the rich history of this unique village, nestled at the foothills of the Gold Coast Hinterland. It recognises those places of special heritage significance that have been entered in the Gold Coast Local Heritage Register.
Download the Mudgeeraba Heritage Walk booklet to guide your students through this trail.
Our Libraries online historypin tour can supplement this walk. We also have resources for Year 2 and Year 3 teachers. This education pack has been developed to assist with delivery of the Australian Curriculum – History stream.
